Volunteering can help you connect with your community, learn new skills, and even make friends.
When you lead a busy life, as many people do today, it’s easy to overlook the value of volunteering. You may feel like you simply don’t have the time to commit to an organization, or perhaps you haven’t found a cause that really speaks to you just yet. But making time to volunteer can make a big difference in the fulfillment and happiness you feel in your life. The right volunteering match can help you connect with your community, learn new skills, and even make friends. Additionally, giving back helps take your focus off yourself, which can reduce stress and combat symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Volunteering doesn’t have to become your new full-time gig. In fact, any time you can give is often highly beneficial to the organization of your choosing. For instance, working with youth can be particularly fulfilling, as your efforts can help shape the lives of future generations. At House of Hope Piedmont, we have opportunities available to those around the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area. If you’re looking for a way to give of your time, we’d love to talk to you about how you can help us.
Our residential facility is designed for troubled teenage girls ages 13 to 17. We provide a Christ-centered atmosphere where these individuals can undergo counseling, meet with their families regularly, and participate in Christian schooling to overcome issues they’re faced with and achieve successful outcomes. One volunteering opportunity is becoming a Big Sister, which allows you to mentor teens directly. Other options include tutoring, maintaining the grounds, handling administrative tasks, and supporting extracurricular activities. No matter your skill set or interests, we encourage you to contact us to learn more about how you can help.
